Hawaii Nixed for Trees

And like that (snap!) things change. Again.

Last night on the drive home from daycare...

Lulu: Mom, Zachary and I are going to get married.

Me: I know, honey. In Hawaii, right?

Lulu: No! We're not getting married in Hawaii, we're going to get married on a Christmas tree farm.

Me: Oh, that's going to be pretty cold!

Lulu: It's okay, we'll wear coats.

Bean Nightingale

This was the description of the Bean's day at school yesterday, filled out by her teacher. (Click on the image above to read it better.) My favorite part is where it says, "...helped our friends by giving them toys when they're sad." Makes me smile everytime I read or think about it!

Bean's teachers tell me that this is typical of Bean at school. She is quite the compassionate nurturer and gets very concerned when the other kids in her class are upset or distressed. It's not uncommon to see her go and try to comfort one of her classmates by patting them on the back and such. We've seen her do this with Lulu at home, too.

It so amazing that we can see these personality traits developing at such a young age.

Our little Bean is truly such a love!

Hawaiian Destination Wedding

So, here is a picture, finally, of the famous Zachary! What a cutie, huh? He's tall, so he and Lulu do make a striking and attractive couple. Yesterday when I was picking Lulu and Bean up from school, Zach told me that he and Lulu were going to get married in Hawaii.

I believe the Hawaiian destination is a result of an off-the-cuff comment to the kids a while back from Miss Patty. Lulu and Zack were discussing where they were going to get married with Las Vegas being seriously considered since they knew that Eddie and I were married there. Somehow, Hawaii was brought up, and the kids asked Miss Patty if she would fly them to Hawaii. She replied, "Sure!!!"

And there you have it.

I could see Lulu having a Hawaiian wedding someday. Just seems like a Lulu-thing she'd do!

This is a total Lulu expression, love it!

Bear Drama Drives Momma To Drink

Last night after we got home, I was driven to the bottle by the Bear. No sooner than we'd walked in the door, the meltdown began. I was screamed at, yelled at, my parenting skills insulted, and I was hit a few times. (Technically, the usual from her...).

This went on for a good half an hour. You'd probably cracked that bottle open sooner than I did, huh?
Meanwhile, I had a Bean hooting and hollering for her milk fix in her high chair in the kitchen. A regular cacophony of high pitched screams on both sides of the house (with mine, included). I'm surprised the neighbors didn't alert the authorities.

And then, once the time-out timer went off and some resemblance of food was in the Bears belly, all was right in the world again.

From now on, I'm buying a large bag of pretzels to keep in the car for after school snacks.

Quiet Starry Night

I love the way this light in our kitchen above the bar casts shadows on the walls and windows.

Yes, I know it's VERY early in the morning.

It's hard to not want to get stuff done when the rest of the house is quiet and asleep!

Too Sweet Not To Share
