Lulu Our Fix-It Girl

Eddie tells me that Lulu did the majority of the repair work fixing our door keypad today. This included unscrewing the pad, replacing the battery, replacing the housing and testing the keypad.

Way to go, Lulu!!!

More Vacation Photos...

Bean snagged one of my french fries instead of digging into her Scooby snacks.

Bean hams it up in front of the Salishan Lodge fireplace.

I'm not impressed with the Monday morning headline...

We loved how the light came through the play structure in these photos and others we took.

Either that swing needs to be raised higher or Bean's legs really are getting that long!

Bean ignores Eddie's requests to look at the camera...

and makes her patented silly face, instead.

Other uses for a beach sand pail: Pirate eye patch or tipsy marching band member?

"Oh no! I did WHAT at the party last night??? I don't remember any of it!"

Bean likes to bite things right now, including sand pails and more often than not, her big sister.

Sticking her entire face in the bucket and yelling was a novelty that didn't wear off anytime soon.

The girl and the sea...Maybe future album covers if she ever starts a band?

Looks can be deceiving. It's hard to tell in the photos above, but the beach dropped off about two-three feet down to where the water was. Below, Eddie's driftwood art installations...

Me trying to get the Spiderman kite to catch some air.

Mo's clam chowder. Look at that butter oil slick!

On the pier outside Mo's with Bean after lunch, before ice cream at Eleanor's.

Bean liked the tiger at Sambo's, our breakfast stop in Lincoln City Tuesday before heading home.

This restaurant was independantly founded in the 1950's and not a part of the Sambo's chain.

More tigers to admire!

Beach Bums

Monday was gorgeous at the coast. We went out to breakfast at the Pig n' Pancake and then ventured to an amazing kids park, Regatta Park, at Devil's Lake. We did not expect to find what awaited us!

I became very interested in the vacation rentals next to the park and on the lake...Future vacation destination with Happy Squirrel or Mojo's family???

Eddie loved the playground just as much if perhaps more than Bean, did. Lulu is going to love this place when we go back again with her!

After the park, we ventured out to the private beach that belongs to the resort. Nary a person to be found. Bean collected the smoothest rocks and pebbles you could imagine, Eddie stood driftwood up on end throughout the area in the sand, and I tried to fly our kite. Alas, the wind wouldn't cooperate for us...

I finally gave up and turned it over to Eddie and Bean.

It was now time for lunch, and we decided to go to Mo's, famous for their clam chowder, a heart attack in a bowl. There was literally a pat of butter floating in my small cup of soup. Ai yi yi! It was very good, but then, pretty much everything is better with butter and bacon. This bowl of chowder had both!

After lunch, we walked out to the pier and looked around.

Then on to Eleanor's Undertow for ice cream.

Eddie played a game of pinball and won a free game (he's good like that, though he "played it forward" and left it for someone else to discover). Bean liked the mermaid fountain but she looked to me like she'd opted for a pair of bolt-on's by a questionable plastic surgeon.

A Relaxing Mini-Vacation

The three of us headed out to Gleneden Beach on Sunday morning for our mini-vacation at Salishan Lodge. Even though the Hood-to-Coast race was going on, we had no problem with traffic on the way down and got to Lincoln City earlier than expected. Since we were starving, we had a late lunch at the Lighthouse McMenamins. Eddie had a huge turkey burger, I got the grilled tuna cheddar melt and Bean opted for Scooby Snacks (mini-corn dogs)!

After checking into our room and all having a bit of a lie-down, we got up to venture down to Newport and go Rogue...

The beer menu in the pub!

Eddie in his smart new hoodie sweatshirt (he forgot to pack a jacket or sweater).

Seafood dinner was courtesy of the Mary Evans...

and included oyster shooters...

...calamari with lemon aioli and a delicious cocktail sauce made of gin...

...fresh seafood ceviche of shrimp, tuna and Dungeness crab meat!

The bay was beautiful in the early fall weather as the sun went down.

Back to our room as it lightly drizzled outside in the foggy darkness, Bean enjoyed a few episodes of My Little Pony in bed, before she went to bed.
