In case you were wondering: "Bears" and "Beans" refer to our little girls. We have always referred to Lulu as our "Honey Bear". Before Josephine was born, we decided that we would make a concerted effort not to call her "Honey Bear" because, after all, this was Lulu's nickname. Josephine would just have to wait for her own nickname to present itself.  It didn't take long. During her pregnancy, Melissa referred to Josephine as "Jojo" and "Jojo-Bean" (rhymes with Josephine). One day she said to me, "I need you to watch the Bean and the Bear."

So "Bears" and "Beans" it is 'round here...

I probably don't need to explain the "beer" part... other than to mention that Portland is often referred to as "Beer-vana"...

Did I mention I am gaining weight?

It is 8:30am and Jojo is finally asleep.  Baby time, it revolves around naps, awake time and meals, in quick succession.  She'll probably only be asleep for a half hour or so.  Poor Melissa, of course, is the baby caterer.  So she is up with Jojo at 11, 1, and 4 or something close to that.  I try to help by getting up with Jojo shortly after the last feeding and entertaining her in the kitchen while I check email, contemplate breakfast and make coffee.  We watch the sky turn from black to gray to blue (or to brighter gray, this is Portland after all). 

Oh, I think she is awake.  =(

This blog currently has no readers. I am still in my, "Do I really want to maintain a blog? Really? Do I?"

I can't seem to answer this question. Who would want to read it? What would I write? Certainly, people are interested in seeing the girls and getting a glimpse of life up here in PDX. Surely, a blog would be the easiest way of doing this... still.... *sigh* ... a blog?

I actually had a blog page created back when Lulu was first born using a different service. There is a total of one entry on that page. Now that Google has taken over a big chunk my life (photos, contact, docs, email) and there is a fairly tight integration between the tasks, it seems like Blogger would be the best solution for getting word out about the family.

So here we are.

Again, no one is currently reading this blog... a couple more posts and I think I might invite you to read it. Sorry this first post is a little dry. But hey, there is a wonderful photo of Jojo to sweeten the deal. =)
